Here are some top tips about looking after your shoes, plus links to websites and services that you may find helpful...
Shoe sizes

Top Tip: Half insoles
Some of us have got one foot larger than the other which can make it hard to find the perfect fit. Very often in a full shoe a simple half insole will make all the difference.
By raising the front of your foot slightly it pushes your foot back and snaps the heel in place. This stops you from walking out of the backs of your shoes
(we recommend Woly 1/2 leather insoles. Available at Caroline Turner Shoes for £4.95)
Care for shoes
Top Tip: Waterproofing
A protective spray is an excellent way to protect your shoes from water, snow, mud and spills! Remember to spray your shoes before wearing and on a regular basis thereafter...
(we recommend Woly 3 x 3 protector. Perfect for leather, suede, nubuck and fabric. Available at Caroline Turner Shoes for £3.95)
Top Tip: Clean and polish
Shoes will last longer if you clean them regularly and remember different materials require different treatments...
Smooth leather: Remove all dust with a damp cloth. Use shoe cream for cleaning, then select a neutral shade of polish or a colour that most closely matches your shoe. Never polish wet shoes.
Suede and Nubuck: If shoes are wet, first let them dry, then use a rubber sponge or soft brush to eliminate any clinging dirt. Regular brushing will keep the nap of the suede clean. Remember to be very gentle to avoid any loss of colour or damage to the fabric...
(we recommend a Woly rubber suede brush. Available at Caroline Turner Shoes for £2.50)
Satin, silk and other delicate fabrics: Always protect with a suitable spray before each wear.
Although there are specialist products on the market, cleaning delicate fabrics can be very difficult. Read instructions carefully before spraying and where possible do a patch test on shoe.
Ponyskin: No cleaning products are recomended for ponyskin but a protective spray is extrememly advisable. If the ponyskin does become slightly dirty, then brush lightly with a soft brush.
Top Tip: Invest in shoetrees.
Shoes should be treed while in the wardrobe, this way your shoes will not only retain their original shape but will also dry out faster.
Top Tip: Regular repairs are important if you want to prolong the life of your shoes and prevent damage
Stiletto heels need to be regularly checked as the heel tip has a much smaller surface area than a block heel and will wear down faster. Narrow pointed shoes need special attention as the toe area is more inclined to wear quickly
One final thought... have plenty of shoes for each season! This will give time for your shoes to get the treatment they deserve.....what better excuse to shop, shop, shop!!
